I've actually been told by a republican that I cannot be both Catholic and a Democrat, because if I am a Democrat I don't have the privilege of being Catholic due to the church's stance on abortion. My opinion is, that right now, there is no such thing as a single issue. It has never been a single issue. Whether I would get an abortion or approve of another woman's decision to get an abortion is not the only thing at stake here. The minute Roe was reversed, we began to slide down the slippery slope of reversing all rights for women, up to and including the right to vote (as in "there should be one vote per family, and the man as family head gets to choose" what that vote is,) Over my dead body! I fail to understand the mental limitations that keep some people from seeing "the big picture" and only focusing on one thing. If we voted on one thing at a time, or a candidate represented only one issue, that would be different. But since we don't have that luxury, people need to look at EVERY issue, weigh them by importance, and only vote for the law or the candidate that makes the most sense for the most people, not just for their personal pet peeve. There is no perfect world were each person gets everything they want. The ability to compromise is a virtue. And now I shall step down from my soap box and start looking for my missing piece of cheese.

Ugh…. 😒…. Such an old dumb story. Here’s my take. I was always told that God’s greatest gift to us was our free will. And that a take on religion that focuses on the commandments but ignores the Beatitudes is not one I want to follow. Your relationship with God is personal and nobody’s else’s fucking business. They can go eat a bag of stale communion wafers. I assure you, Pope Leo thinks you’re fine. 😉😎

And besides I’m a lapsed Catholic…. It’s like the Hotel California, you can check out anytime you like… but you never leave…🤘🏻

Thank you! I think Pope Leo is just fine, too! Never thought that would happen in my lifetime, and I've lived with all of them from Pius XII on up!

There is this HYSTERICAL comic called Chad The Bird, he’s from Chicago. It’s actually a puppet. He did this HILARIOUS bit when the pope was announced. It will make you cry laughing. It’s so needed right now. It’s the 5/10/25 post on YouTube. You’ll love it I promise. Also watch the one on Monopoly. It will BLOW YOUR MIND! 🤣

I just finished watching the 510/25 youtube of Chad the Bird. Soooooo funny! Now I have to find Monopoly...We won't talk age, but I was 6 years old and I remember when Pius died. It was a really big thing at the time! That was before JFK was president and everyone was all upset that the john Paul II would be running the USA because JFK was a catholic. LOL

Your secret is safe with me. Chad comes out with new stuff every week. It’s a great distraction from the dumpster fire that is our current political reality. When my mom died I found a cigar box with Kennedy Eisenhower campaign buttons. As a government major in college it was SO COOL! Hope it makes you laugh. I find his stuff so funny

I was raised a Roman Catholic, but I am pro-choice. It is not for me or my religion to determine what other people do in their lives. Male or Female. I look at all the issues and vote accordingly, which is why I’m a Democrat. I am a Patriotic American and love my diverse country. I believe very strongly in separation of church & state, as well; mainly because we are diverse country with many different religions. Religion needs to stay out of politics, and if some refuse to, then that particular religion needs to lose their tax exempt status.

Many of those people use their religions as a weapon, which is contradictory to the principles of *most* religions. It wouldn't be fair to persecute a religion based on what a few rogues — who may not even actually believe in that religion — cause the religion to suffer as a whole.

I’m not talking about a few rogue people, I’m talking about a rogue religion, like the White Christian Nationalists, I believe that is what Hegseth is. Those types that have infiltrated our government. They are a dangerous religion. And a danger to our Country.

Sorry for the delay getting back to you.

Is this an actual tax exempt religion? I know MAGA is like its own cult, are these White Christian Nationalis basically synonymous with MAGA? That link didn't pull up an article for me, just a list of other articles that didn't seem related.

I just don't like the idea of splash damage affecting innocent people who didn't ask for their religion to be infiltrated.

Do I hear an "AMEN"? :-) And a big yes. Most of the republicans I have dealt with lately are adamant about my being wrong. Right now, in already 80 degree heat, I am going to try to start my day with no hot caffeine, and jump right into "eating the frog first" in the words of Mark Twain.

The only activity that comes before making coffee is feeding the cats. I started my day with a 30 ounce mug. With these double walled cups it lasts until maybe 10 AM.

I normally start with a regular sized cup of green tea, but in these temps, I become a fervent believer that "caffeine, like revenge, is best served cold" ergo a sweat-dripping bottle of cold Dew!

That cold stuff just never caught on with me. And the only modification I ever make to coffee is to make mocha one day a week. I especially like the mexican blocks that have cinnamon added. Nestle Abuelita

Both of my parents were coffee-holics. I personally could not stand the aroma of it or the taste of it. I wish I liked it, coffee shops would be easier to sit in, but alas, it's not my cup of tea...LOL

That is a lot of emotion, Katherine! We all need to save some of our energy and emotions for good things, like the smell of freshly mowed grass, or a colorful bird on the feeder, or making a batch of cookies and giving them to friends! Or, like me, you could sit down and work on writing a book, or an article, or a song. We all need a little joy!

The day has displayed such cruelty with the scene in Florida, and the abhorrent provisions that are the reconciliation bill… The horrific nature of what was put on display during the seven week trial… I know we are always told that life isn’t fair but these times feel extreme. I’ll reduce the number of emojis but it’s been a tough day personally as well and I reacted. Thank you for offering a temperate voice.

Do you read TCinLA “Thats Another Fine Mess” posts? He tells it like it is and is an incredible writer. This afternoon he posted something extra about Formula 1 movies and the post is such a delight, absolute diversion, and that was his point… Escapism.

Glenn, once again you have drawn back the curtain on the judicial process and I thank you for that. I am specifically referring to the jury process. I have often wondered how and why the jury makes its decisions. You helped me understand that. Thank you again!

As for Diddy, although i dion’t care about the media circus surrounding him, I do appreciate your discussion and you made it worthwhile. I also appreciate the Wisconsin court judicial background you provided. Once again, as far as your presentation is concerned, you hit it out of the park. If the Wisconsin legislature is majority pro choice, the state would be well served if that 19th century law were abolished. If left hanging around as it has been, it may become relevant in the future under a more conservative legislature or judicial system.
