This is scarier than people maybe think. I'm not an American - I live in the UK, but not so many years ago, in 1930s Germany, they made the same sort of exceptions for Jewish people and those they maybe thought "looked Jewish". Your Supreme Court judges have opened up a real can of racist worms. Hispanic-looking today. Tomorrow?

MB Matthews, she/her's avatar

Well, we saw how they went after South Koreans in Georgia. Instead of asking them for their papers, they put them in handcuffs and chains and photographed them. It’s all about the cruelty and humiliation.

Athena Haresign's avatar

These judges using the shadow docket to hide their corruption makes me mad.

Nik's avatar

Are you saying there is something unsavory about people who suck dicks?

Nuki Mo's avatar

HA!😆 I get your snark, Nik!😂 Just to be clear for those who “read it but didn’t get it”, Athena likely was just lashing out at the SCOTUS SICKS (6). I don’t want to speak for her but…I’m hopeful that Athena would likely sincerely apologize and say, “no disrespect was intended” to the many very nice “dick suckers”🤭 out there who may have been offended.🙄🤣THANK YOU FOR YOUR ATTENTION TO THIS MATTER.

Btw, DonOld is all over the Bestie Pedo-Files! Like the Dept. Of Defense, the name’s in process of being changed. They’re now called, The “tRUMPSTEIN FILES”!😏😉

Nik's avatar

When you want to show anger and disgust, the correct term is "cocksuckers" rather than dick suckers (and/or "assholes").

laura oshea's avatar

No I think she was just angry and lashed out at complete POS judges!!!

Nuki Mo's avatar

Fascist, racist tRumpubliCons have alluded to who may be next in their crosshairs… those sneaky Asians that talk in languages and write with squiggly lines & shapes we don’t and can’t understand! Even if they say they’re ’c’hristians, they still have other scary demon gods and idols. So, unAmeriken! I actually have MAGA relatives whose mother, aunts, uncles or grand mother was full blooded Asian that are afraid of, don’t trust and shun those that are Buddhist! They’re ignorant, isolationist tRumper’s afraid of the outside world & reality! We know they’ll turn in relatives to try & save their NATc asses! I can’t wait to see them hauled off to a MAGA concentration camp!

It is really scary and heartbreaking to watch our constitution slowly being crumpled and trampled. Thankful for people like you that bring these issues to the forefront!

Vel Santic's avatar

it's not "slowly" at all. tRumputin&his terrorists are creating kimjongun's north korea of USA, at a lightning speed.

the situation is actually much worse than even Glenn Kirschner describes it. but, lest I get called "dramatic-alarmist-hyperbolic", I'm shutting up here. p.s. if more Americans were really aware of horrors that are going on, more such Americans would be on the streets demanding the illegal regime&his zombies on "scotus" be gone at least from Washington DC, the most Democratic-voting American Territory and other Democratic Territories of USA.

LinnieMac's avatar

So Glenn, why can’t the lawyers and the federal judges sue the Supreme Court? They are on the wrong side of justice and the constitution. We need to take action and step out of the box. This Supreme Court is working for Trump and not the people. Just absolutely diabolical!

laura oshea's avatar

That’s what I keep saying. Recently some large number of judges rebuked SCOTUS for doing this shit but they still continue!

KPez's avatar

What do we the people do about it?

BTW, are the justices themselves immune to prosecution as they gifted this president?

Leslie's avatar

I think a judge can be impeached, but I don’t think it’s ever happened. Maybe I’m wrong.

Nicky's avatar

Judges have been inserted for changing jury decisions or giving people light or extra time beyond laws. A few

laura oshea's avatar

They could be arrested and tried for a crime but not for a ruling!! I like firing squads myself or rendition!!!

Julio Perez's avatar

#MoscowMitch was projecting when he said the Obergefell decision was executed by the Supreme Court of the time rewriting the Constitution! Now, we have six rogue SC injustices rewriting the Constitution in real time against the plain meaning of the Constitution!! They need to be removed or, their decisions ignored because they contradict everything the Constitution stands for! I love your Amendment of the 4th Amendment, Glenn!! It's going to be a long fight to restore what these 6 rogue SC injustices have taken away from the people!!

Peggy Peterson's avatar

How do I send a message to the Supreme Court to express my disdain for their ruling

Cherae Stone's avatar

Disdain for the ruling, yes, and THEN ask how they arrived at this ruling. That’s what eats me. If they can’t tell anyone how or why, what are the lower courts (and the rest of us) to do when it comes to righting these grievous wrongs?

Gigi's avatar

Look at supremecourt.gov. There is no longer a telephone comment line but you can email and write letters. Maybe standing outside would help like people did when nazipotus shut down immigrations coming in at airports. But how convenient DC is full of soldiers now.

I am enraged about this. I live in Mexico and have advised everyone in our pueblo to tell their relatives (everyone in mexico has at least one uncle and a brother in the states) NOT to speak Spanish or any indigenous languages in public to the extent they can. I have also written to anyone I know in the States who is spanish-speaking and may not understand exactly what is going down. I suggest everyone does that. I hate to write that but your own language might kill you during these dark and disastrous days

Candace Crocker's avatar

Good advice but sad that you have to warn them

Terrin Haley's avatar

a travesty! to tell someone not to speak their birth language! like those awful boarding schools for Native American children. I hate this. but pass the word, por favor!

Baldwin Got It Right's avatar

Serious question: When the Supreme Court rules against our Constitution, what is our recourse? Where are the checks and balances against them?

Nicky's avatar

Its definitely an issue but this travesty is because of trump. A president shouldn't get more than 1 pick a term. It needs to be fixed for sure. Trump showed us all the holes in our govt.

Jimmie Broaders's avatar

"Make America Great Again" has always been about returning to the days when Blacks, Hispanics, and other people of color had no rights and no voice. I think the Dems missed many opportunities to challenge Trump and MAGA during the campaign last year to explain on the record what the hell he meant by "Make America Great Again." My hope is that the Trump appointed SCOTUS justices will be impeached in the future for all lying under oath during their congressional hearings. SCOTUS desperately needs expansion to balance the ideologies. The federal judiciary needs a complete overhaul; it needs a comprehensive set of ethics like other professions and it needs term limits for the entire federal court system.

I guess the 6, dare I say, fascist leaning gop supporters, have decided racial profiling is just fine for the "lawless" actions of ICE et al, but the attempt to INCLUDE people of all backgrounds, hues, genders, etc is a huge NO NO for universities, businesses, and public institutions. These 6 are totally out of order and should be removed IMO. I feel like the Taney court of the 1850's has come back from the dead...something like epstein...these awful things keep turning up because we the people seem to have a hard time not just holding leaders accountable. We're afraid to face up to the many injustices done to too many in our name since the first colonists arrived. Unless and until we face our own national story and it's terrible implications for today's fascist horror, we will find ourselves constantly threatened and manipulated by these white supremacists forces that have always been with us. They did not die with the Civil War. They became "the lost cause" ideology. What irony that it is national guard from former confederate states showing up in DC. J6 continues.

Baldwin Got It Right's avatar

Brilliantly stated! I agree wholeheartedly.

Linda Cameron's avatar

What can we do as American citizens to uphold the Constitution? To change a the Constitution requires ratification by three-quarters of the States to add a new amendment. How can this action by the Supreme Court to amend the Constitution be legal? Is there no recourse?

Sandra B.'s avatar

Linda, actually a Constitutional Amendment requires ratification by 2/3 which is 28 states. Back in the '70's, the ERA was constantly attempted but never ratified. This subject was one of several discussed in my Philosophy of Law class I had as an undergrad. We had some spirited and very interesting discussions in that class.

Nancy West's avatar

This is definitely scary. What is the Supreme Court or some of its members getting out of this? They already have a job for life. In my opinion, that should definitely be changed.

Wendy E's avatar

Sadly this is the wall we will be up against as long as Republicans have the majority! It doesn't stop us, however, from calling Washington DC.

U.S. Mail:

Lauren's avatar

How soon will Chicago and other cities sue? SCOTUS has legalized racial profiling since the beginning of the country. In that sense, slavery is still alive.

Glenn, I'm surprised you have whiteboards and not smart boards.

Cherae Stone's avatar

LOL! And I’d like to suggest that he refer to himself as a “bad (although he’s not) illustrator” instead of a bad drawer. It always makes me giggle when someone uses the word drawer instead of illustrator or even artist. I see boxer shorts in my mind’s eye. 🤣 And sometimes they have jingle bells on ‘em.

Christine's avatar

Can’t something be done?? This is so un-American. It might be a good idea for people to take a long hard look at the history of Germany . My heart goes out to those both citizens and migrants of Hispanic decent. Living in fear is not living and the children are going to not only be terrified but be made to feel they are not as good as others.
